Betvisa Casino – What is Blackjack?
Blackjack is a popular card game, also known as 21. The game’s primary objective is to beat the dealer by having a hand value as close to 21 as possible without exceeding it. Number cards (2-10) are worth their face value, face cards (Jack, Queen, King) are each worth 10, and Aces can be worth either 1 or 11, depending on which value benefits the hand more.
In blackjack, the types of bets and actions that players can take:
Basic Bet (“Ante” or “Initial Bet”): Players place an initial bet before the cards are dealt.
Hit: Players can request additional cards (hits) to improve their hand. They can continue to hit until they decide to stand or until their hand exceeds 21 (busts).
Stand: Players choose to keep their current hand and not take any more cards.
Double Down: Players can choose to double their initial bet after receiving the first two cards, in exchange for committing to stand after receiving one more card.
Split: If a player is dealt two cards of the same rank, they can choose to split them into two separate hands, each with its own bet.
Insurance: If the dealer’s face-up card is an Ace, players have the option to take insurance, a side bet that pays out if the dealer has a natural blackjack.
Surrender: In some variants, players can choose to surrender and forfeit half of their bet if they believe their hand is likely to lose against the dealer.
Even Money: If a player has a blackjack and the dealer’s face-up card is an Ace, they may choose to take even money, guaranteeing a 1:1 payout rather than risking a tie (push) if the dealer also has a blackjack.
The specific rules and available bets can vary slightly between different blackjack variations and house rules.
